Quiet along the North River
Located on the western edge of Bridgewater, Virginia along
the North River is Wildwood Park. It is the site of an old hydroelectric dam,
the dam-keeper's building (The Flood of 1985 erased the dam-keeper's building),
and adjoining grounds. Wildwood Park is highly popular, and there is
insufficient parking; so biking there is ideal. I chose this site on occasion (12.5
miles one way from my home) to take in the beauty of river and cliffs on the southern
bank of the river, plentiful trees and shade. A site like this invites quiet time to make a
cup of coffee with my camp stove and to read.
