Grassy Embankment (facing west) |
Lake Shenandoah, a 36 acre impoundment owned by the
Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is located in Rockingham County having
urban development surrounding it. The lake is overall shallow (less than 3 feet
with its maximum depth near the dam of 25 feet. It is said to feed off of excessive
nutrients entering the lake, which keeps the water green with algal blooms
through most of the year. Here anglers have the opportunity to catch largemouth
bass, bluegill, crappie, common carp, channel catfish and musky.

Grassy Path |
The lake offers bikers a grassy and dirt path from the
gravel parking area (west) to the dam (east) with plenty of area to relax and
reflect.
