Navigating Gravel Loop around Shenandoah Regional Airport

Shenandoah Regional Airport is located in rural surroundings of Weyers Cave, Virginia [38°15′50″N 078°53′47″W]. It covers 433 acres at an elevation of 1,201 ft. above mean sea level.  It serves the regions of Staunton, Waynesboro and Harrisonburg. Construction of the airport was completed in 1958.

Surrounding the airport are several routes that allow for a nice gravel ride. East (Rt. 608) and south of the airport (Rt. 775 which crosses the Middle River and Rt. 774) provide an approach to a southern view of runway 5 (facing NNE) with its threshold lights (Rt. 774).  There are places to rest where you can observe the flight traffic.
